NCAA Requirements
Requirements for Event Certification
** If participating in a NCAA APPROVED D1 VIEWING PERIOD EVENT – the below information is mandatory for all coaches/players/teams to participate on those four weekends annually **
Beginning in 2017, the NCAA made it mandatory that all individuals that engage in coaching activities at an NCAA certified event must obtain a USA Basketball Gold Coach License PRIOR to participation. To complete the program, you will need to do the following: access the internet to create an account, complete the USA Basketball Youth Development Course, complete the NCAA eligibility course, complete SafeSport certification, and pass a criminal background check. A valid credit card is also needed to pay for the USA Basketball Gold Coach License.
However, If you completed this in 2023, what you need to do for 2024 is RENEW your existing USAB gold license and NOT obtain a new one. If a coach obtains a new license, then it will not auto-validate in the BBCS and will delay your access to the BBCS for 2024.
Coaches should allow 3 weeks to process. The 2024 license fees are as follows: Domestic Applicant Annual Fees: $58.00 – If registering before January 1. $68.00 – If registering in January, February, March, June-September. $136.00 – If registering in the months of April or May as these are high volume processing months. International: $77.00 – If registering before January 1. $87.00 – If registering in January, February, March, June-September. $153.00 –If registering in the months of April or May as these are high volume processing months.
Due to county and courthouse staff shortages background screens are taking longer than normal and USA Basketball cannot guarantee a completion date in the normal 3 week timeline.
YOUR NEXT STEP IF PLANNING TO ATTEND AN NCAA D1 CERTIFIED EVENT - Once you are approved by USAB you are cleared to be on the sidelines from the date of completion through August 31 of each year BUT you must go to the BBCS and either renew or build your account. Coaches and athletes should RENEW their previously created BBCS account and NOT create a new account. This is done by logging in to their existing account and updating the information on their profile rather than selecting Register as a New User button.
All coaches must also register their teams with the NCAA, which includes coaches' information roster and all events that your team will be attending. This information must be checked off (opt in) in order for you to participate in any open viewing evaluation event. Both of these steps must be completed for ANY AGE team participating in a NCAA Certified Event.
All ATHLETES participating must also go through an online process to be able to play in a certified event as well. Coaches will not be able to put them into their rosters online until their athlete has completed this step.

For NCAA events - All roster/coaches information must the NCAA systems 7 days prior to an event. To ensure we have all the proper information for the College Coaches that attend our events AND to stay compliant with the NCAA if this information is not in the system properly the club administrators that set up the USJN account will be fined $50 by USJN.
